On the afternoon of September 2, 2026, Zhang Chaoqun, Chairman of CGN Energy International (“CGNEI”), met with H.E. Mr. Akanat Promphan, Minister of Energy of Thailand, in Bangkok. The two sides held in-depth discussions on deepening practical cooperation in clean energy, jointly advancing Thailand’s energy transition, and ensuring a secure and stable energy supply. Dr. Prasert Sinsukprasert, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Chairman of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), together with representatives from relevant institutions, attended the meeting.
Zhang Chaoqun said that CGN is one of China’s leading large-scale clean energy enterprises, with a mature technology system, a professional talent pool and extensive experience in international project operations. CGN has strengths across the full value chain in gas-fired power generation, onshore wind, offshore wind and solar power, which are highly aligned with Thailand’s clean energy transition policies and development priorities. CGN remains confident in the long-term prospects of Thailand’s energy market and is willing to leverage its technological, professional and management capabilities to align closely with Thailand’s Power Development Plan (PDP), actively participate in clean energy investment and construction as well as energy infrastructure upgrades, and contribute to Thailand’s green and low-carbon energy transition and the security of its power supply.
The Thai side acknowledged CGN’s comprehensive capabilities and its interest in cooperation, and shared information on Thailand’s ongoing adjustment of its energy structure and the preparation of a new Power Development Plan, which is expected to place continued emphasis on clean energy development and a higher share of renewable energy.
The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening technical exchanges and practical cooperation at various levels, as well as on further exploring potential cooperation opportunities in support of Thailand’s clean energy transition and mutual development.
The high-level meeting further consolidated the foundation for practical cooperation between the two sides in the clean energy sector. Going forward, both sides will maintain close communication and coordination and work to advance relevant cooperation initiatives toward concrete results.
